On Disinfection
Hopefully the idea of keeping things clean is something that has weighed on your mind long before the current flu scare has popped up. You probably have a large number of products in various parts of your home used for cleaning off various surfaces, given that the demand for US household cleaning chemicals reached $4.6 billion in 2007. Nobody is really interested in eating off of dirty dishes, and everybody likes their floors, counters, and sinks clean even when some ‘pandemic’ is not the medias current hot topic. For that reason all of us have a plethora of cleaning agents, each supposedly better than the rest for every surface in our home. Like many familes, we have some bought ages ago that due to some mediocrity have been resigned to the back row of cleaners, and now just sit. And now, back row cleaners don’t really count as ‘storage’ :) What I’d like to point out today is some not only why certain cleaners are important for your ‘food’ storage, but also some of the best items you can have for daily use, as well as long term storage. In cleaning harmful microorganisms, there are three basic terms one should be aware of: antibiotics which are used inside the body, _antiseptics _which are used to on living tissue, and Disinfectants which are used for other surfaces. What is a disinfectant can actually vary by definition legally, but one example is any product that can reduce a bacterial population by 99.999% in a 30 second sample period. That’s pretty darn powerful, but not actual true ‘sterilization’, so keep that in mind.
