This is gonna be fun!campzionsmall There’s a lot to explain here and we’re still figuring out a lot of it, but here’s our plan. This is going to be a 3 day family survival/training camp - the catch and the point is that you can only bring your 72 hour kit and nothing else. For 3 days you’ll have to survive off of the contents of your 72 hour kit. We’ll have backups of some critical things in case you’ve forgotten anything (we’re not gonna let you die! :) ). Sometime this spring we’ll meet at a designated car parking location, do a kit inventory to make sure everyone has the absolute necessities and then we’ll hike a few miles to our first camp. Each morning we’ll pack up and break camp and hike a couple miles to the next location. While in camp we will have several camping/survival training sessions designed to teach you how to live off your kit and how to make it last more than 72 hours by living off the land. We’ll cover lots of basics in depth like fire starting, how to set a camp, food preparation, water purification, etc. The goal of KitCamp is to first help you make sure you know what you want/need in your 72 hour Kit. Second, to help you become (more) confident that you can survive off your kit (this is probably the most important one). Third, to help you learn skills that will help you keep you and your family safe and healthy in an emergency. Attendance at KitCamp is open to everyone and your entire family is invited. We’ll have expert instructors (including the authors here but others as well) and a well planned out and coordinated camp. We are planning on doing one of these in the spring and one in the fall on a regular basis. Everything for KitCamp is still in the planning stages so if you have any suggestions, please let us know! We’ll be announcing our first date and meetup location very soon, we’d like to get a list of people who are tentatively interested in attending so if this sounds like a good time to you, please say so in the comments!
