Many products and services bill themselves as a "set it and forget it" way of getting things done. Adequate preparedness, however, clashes with this approach. In the recent Costco mailer, some friends and I all noticed that a "72-hour" kit that Costco carries had a limited time online discount available. One more 72 hour kit could be good for my family, and if it was nice, would make a great gift to give to some family members and friends.
