Cooking with Sunlight Solar Cooking Demo – June 26th, 2014
via Mapleton Ready
Cooking with the Sun is easier than you think.
Did you know you can bake, broil, grill, roast, sauté, fry, stir fry and even pressure cook with the Power of the Sun – NO FUEL REQUIRED! It’s so easy and fun that solar cooking isn’t just for emergencies anymore.
Sun Ovens can be used just like your home oven and reach temperatures of up to 400º Fahrenheit in the summer and up to 300º in the winter. Baked goods such as cookies and brownies can actually taste better. From fabulous tasting breads, scrumptious cookies, pot roasts and even an entire turkey. You can start with a frozen roast and in 3 to 4 hours, the time it takes to go to church, come home to a perfectly cooked meal.
Parabolic Cookers can be used just like your stove top to grill, steam, boil, fry or even BBQ. You can boil 1 liter of water in 10 minutes, reach grilling temperatures in 5 minutes and searing temperatures in 10 minutes.
We’re fortunate to have two world-class presenters: Paul Munson (SunOvens) and Scot Frank (SolSource), both leading solar cooking innovators. See full bio at bottom.
LIVE Demonstrations in the east parking lot starting at 4:00 pm (We hope it’s really sunny!). See first hand how both solar ovens and parabolics work and taste the results. Also, a limited number of Complete Sun Oven Bundles and SolSource Parabolic cooker sets will be available at a special Mapleton Ready group rate and available for pickup from our home that night. We’ve been asked not to publish the price so if interested before the class give us call and we’ll get your name on the list (801) four nine one 1111. Or if you can’t make the workshop or live outside of Utah you can usually find pretty reasonable prices online for both cookers and a wide range of other solar cookers from a variety of vendors. The important thing is that you get cooking with the sun, even if it’s just a cardboard box covered in tinfoil.
