Two HAM radio classes in Pleasant Grove

TWO NEW TECHNICIAN CLASSES

The Technician license is the entry level license for getting started in HAM radio. The Amateur Radio Club of Utah Valley often presents one day courses followed by a test to obtain your Technician class license. They have just announced a three day class and another one day class in the Pleasant Grove area. I obtained my license about three years ago. It really is easy!

Three-day Technician Class (Trent, N7GMT)

One-day Technician Class & Exam Session (Steve, NV7V)

(See http://www.arcuv.org/ for more info)

Due to overwhelming last-minute demand for the three-day Technician License class this week, we’re announcing — also at the last minute – another three-day class. Same format and (hopefully) location, with one twist. The class will be Wednesday-or-Thursday and Friday evenings, and Saturday morning. The first Thursday is Roundtable for those in Scouting, so we’re going to do the first session both Wednesday and Thursday to accomodate. So have your friends and neighbors mark their calendars:

* Wed., 04.Feb.2009 …
or Thurs., 05.Feb.2009, 6:00 – 9:30 p.m.
* Fri., 06.Feb.2009, 6:00 – 9:30 p.m.
* Sat., 07.Feb.2009, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

If you know someone who is signed up for this class, but preferred another week, this is for them. Please tell them ASAP and have them personally contact either Tyler, N7TTP, or myself, Trent, N7GMT. (Contact info below.)

We will confirm the location within the next week, but the last-minute confirmations caught us a bit off guard. For now plan on the LDS meeting house on 1300 W in Pleasant Grove.

Please direct any questions, comments, or change of class preference to one of us ASAP:

  1. For those that aren’t aware, you do not need to learn Morse Code to get the technician-level license. This is often a stumbling block for people, and many don’t know that they’ve removed this requirement from the technician level.

  3. Thanks for the clarification. The Morse Code requirement was removed from the Technician Class requirement quite some time ago. Morse Code was also removed from the General Class requirement a little over a year ago. Whenever I get off my butt, I plan on upgrading to the General Class.
